New Photographic Safaris at
Gangler’s Sub-Arctic
In northern Manitoba, just 100 kilometres south of the Nunavut border, lies Gangler’s North Seal River Lodge. This unique fly-in wilderness lodge was once a remote fishing lodge and has since evolved into an eco-adventure paradise. Guests can explore the pristine North through RTV and fatbike tours, hikes, kayaking, canoeing, fishing adventures, or floatplane flightseeing over untouched lakes.
The photographic opportunities at the North Seal are truly endless – from the vivid Northern Lights and diverse wildlife to the striking sand eskers, lakes, and rare sub-arctic flora that make this region so exceptional. Starting next year, Gangler’s introduces three new photographic safaris, giving travellers the opportunity to capture the beauty of Manitoba’s North with expert photographers:
• September 9–13, 2026
A unique program designed for couples with different interests - one focused on photography, the other on world-class fishing. Photographer Andrea Ayotte will lead photo sessions and provide expert instruction, while her partner, Mike Borger, a well-known Canadian angler, ensures an outstanding fishing experience.
• September 17–22 and September 22–27, 2026
Both safaris are led by Cheryl Stewart, an accomplished photographer and certified trip host with over 35 years of experience. Each program combines in-field instruction with lodge-based sessions, offering hands-on guidance in sub-arctic photography. Participants will have the chance to develop their technical skills while capturing the diverse wildlife and dramatic landscapes of northern Manitoba under Cheryl’s expert mentorship.
Guest’s stay in cozy cabins, with meals served in the main lodge. Gangler’s Sub-Arctic itineraries include return airfare from Winnipeg, transfers, accommodation, meals, activities, and equipment. Combination programs with polar bear and beluga whale viewing in Churchill are also available.
Gangler’s Sub Arctic can be booked directly or through Jonview.

Where the journey unwinds:
Spa retreats in Manitoba
Winter in Manitoba means slowing the pace just enough for the senses to catch up. The season leans into warmth – soft light, comfort food, deep breaths, and moments that suddenly feel richer. Such a sense of ease runs through Manitoba’s many spa retreats, each offering a warm, welcoming place to unwind when the days turn crisp and cold.
Yet these sanctuaries aren’t bound to winter. They blend just as naturally into a summer road trip – a warm-stone ritual after a long drive, a calming sauna session after a day on the lake, a soft pause before the next stretch of open road.
