PETERSON'S POINT LAKE LODGE:
FLY-IN FISHING & MORE
AT THE EDGE OF THE ARCTIC CIRCLE

About 350 km north of Yellowknife, Peterson's Point Lake Lodge is located on the edge of the Barren Lands and the Arctic Circle in the middle of the Canadian tundra. Peterson’s Point Lake Lodge offers a prime location for spectacular barrenland experiences, whether you’ve come to experience trophy lake trout fishing, trekking, photography and/or view the northern lights.

It is the northernmost lodge in the Northwest Territories and can only be reached by floatplane. Point Lake is set amidst a vast terrain of countless lakes and rivers and is part of the legendary Coppermine River system that stretches more than 300 km to the Arctic Ocean.

The five rustic Guest Cabins at Peterson's Point Lake Lodge each sleep 2-4 people and have an oil stove, solar light, and private porch overlooking Point Lake. Only some cabins have private restrooms, for all other guests there is a privy centrally located behind the cabins. A maximum of 10 guests can be accommodated at the lodge at any one time, which always creates a family atmosphere.

Together with experienced fishing guides, guests are out on motorboats on Point Lake during the day. The waters of the region are known for record-breaking lake trout, which live up to their  name and will test your stamina.

The fish caught are kept solely for their own consumption - the legendary Shore Lunches or typical Northern Dinners are unforgettable! If you need a break from fishing, you can try short hikes around the lodge with a guide or take a paddle - great photo opportunities are guaranteed! At certain times of the year huge groups of caribou migrate through the region and grizzly bears, pygmy swans and peregrine falcons are also at home in the region. In the evening, warm up in the Finnish sauna or in the lounge with a drink by the fireplace and read the stories of polar explorers Samuel Hearne and Sr. John Franklin, who once traveled through this area. Then, at a later hour, with a little luck, the auroras dance in the sky.

Peterson's Point Lake Lodge still has spots available for their Explorer Package in August 2022. Bookings will be accepted through the end of June.

YELLOW DOG LODGE

Best opportunities for aurora viewing are also offered by Yellow Dog Lodge. This comfortable wilderness lodge features challenging adventures in the solitude of the North Canadian Wilderness and is recognized as one of the best signature experiences of Canada.

It is located only 15 minutes by plane northeast of Yellowknife in a dreamlike location directly on the shore of Graham Lake. The owners, Kathy and Gord Gin, run the lodge in the warm way that is so typical for the people of the North. Guests can choose from cozy rooms in the Main Lodge or private cabins with their own fireplaces. And a view of the lake, of course! Nature lovers, anglers, hikers and canoeists will be in their element here. In the evening, guests can relax in the lodge's own sauna or open-air whirlpool with an unobstructed view of the starry night sky and the Aurora Borealis.

Yellow Dog Lodge still has available capacity for its Aurora Package in August and September!
