Dear Canada friend,
In these days, there is a certain uncertainty in the world. Hence, we appreciate a lot that wonderfully reliable constants can be found in Saskatchewan: an unspoiled natural beauty with almost boundless expanses, travel routes off the beaten track, a fascinating Indigenous culture, exciting cities with culinary delights as well as friendly people... and colleagues! Change also means growth: our favorite colleague Heidi Wesling will be supervising us from a higher position from now on. Congratulations to Heidi on her recent promotion to Director, Global Markets!

Culinary travel to Saskatchewan
For most travellers, good food is an essential part of a great holiday. Saskatchewan has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine, especially in its two largest cities, Saskatoon and Regina. They are not only known for their many attractions, but also for a legendary culinary scene. The local breweries with their extravagant beers, the family-run distilleries with their passion for local terroir and award-winning spirits, and last but not least the fabulous restaurants with their creative fusion cuisine are second to none. The production is predominantly from local products, as the region lies in the middle of an agrarian land of milk and honey.

Saskatchewan at Canada Showcase 2023
From November 14 to 17, 2023, Canada’s tourism industry will gather in Hamburg for Showcase Canada. On top of Tourism Saskatchewan, the following Saskatchewan sellers will attend to take appointments with industry partners:

Discover Saskatoon
There is much to discover in Saskatoon! As Saskatchewan‘s largest city, Saskatoon not only boasts a scenic skyline and interesting sights, but also a vibrant arts and music scene as well as countless festivals and events - especially in the summer. Whether you're a fan of outdoor activities, (urban) history or culinary delights, there's something for everyone in Saskatoon.
On top of Wanuskewin Heritage Park, the historical site of the Indigenous peoples of the Northern Plains, Remai Modern is one of the city's cultural highlights. The art gallery is considered the most innovative contemporary art museum in North America. The building stands in a prominent location on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and houses, among other things, the world's most extensive collection of linocuts and ceramic objects by the great Pablo Picasso.

Wanuskewin Heritage Park
Wanuskewin Heritage Park is located on the South Saskatchewan River north of Saskatoon. For more than 6,400 years, Indigenous peoples of the Northern Plains gathered at this site to hunt. The park is the longest operating archaeological site in Canada, a National Historic Site, and awaiting designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visitors learn about the cultural importance of bison to the region and the role the reintroduced herd played most recently in a significant archaeological find. By wallowing in the dust, the animals uncovered a boulder with petroglyphs some 1,200 years old, including the prehistoric tool used to carve them into the stone.
The restaurant at Wanuskewin Heritage Park is one of the best Indigenous restaurants in Canada. A special highlight are the popular Han Wi Moon Dinners, served on full moon summer nights under the open sky, followed by story-telling at the campfire.
